Life, death, hunger and hope in Soweto
by Ana Watts
When Marian LucasJeffries returned to South Africa in February, she found the Soweto Home Based Care Givers Co-op and its members changed since her last visit three years ago. There were more of them –– 20 instead of 11 –– and the number of patients and orphans for whom they cared had not increased significantly, so they are able to spend more time with each one. An average of 20 of their patients die each day of AIDS, so the numbers may not have increased a lot, but the faces of their patients have changed.

Legal Guide for Canadian Churches
Published by Novalis
Wrongful dismissal, potential liability for the actions of employees or volunteers, a parishioner slipping on icy church steps ... these are just some of the legal issues that should be of concern to every Christian church and parish community in Canada. Recognizing that most people working in the church need guidance when confronting church-related legal issues –– lawyers and long-term church members –– David Blaikie and Diana Ginn have assembled a comprehensive legal overview, coupled with practical advice, that should be required reading for every Canadian pastor, church administrator, and parish council member.

Excitement builds as Camp Medley approaches the 2007 camping season
CAMPS CAMPAIGN UPDATE
From Peter Irish
Campaign chair
THE ENVELOPES START ROLLING IN
I just picked-up my first 40 envelopes in response to our article in the March NB Anglican.
In that article I asked everyone who gets the NB Anglican to send in $20 to the campaign. If all 9000 subscribers did that, $180,000 would be added to our $460,000 campaign total and move us much closer to our million dollar goal.
So check for an envelope in the March issue of the New Brunswick Anglican and make that gift to the campaign that has the potential to change the lives of the youth of our Diocese and Province.
It's as easy as pie!
HAVE YOU SENT YOUR ENVELOPE IN?
Just 8960 envelopes to go!
Thank you for your continued support.
Excitement builds as Camp Medley approaches the 2007 camping season

The new main hall at Camp Medley is enclosed see for yourself!
Thank you for your continued support.
Sudan/Kenya
PWRDF partner works to alleviate the hardships in refugee camp
Lucy Ng'ang'a works with the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) Reproductive Health Program for Sudanese and Somali refugees in Kakuma Refugee Camp. She visits refugees on a daily basis and povides trauma counselling as most of the refugees have been traumatized by their war experiences.
Established 15 years ago, the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya is one of the oldest and largest refugee camps in the world. The camp covers about 25 square kilometres and houses approximately 90,000 refugees. The population of the camp is a mix of nine nationalities and dozens of ethnic groups, the majority of whom are refugees from Sudan and Somalia. Dust storms are common and there is a shortage of food, water and firewood. There has been severe land degradation because of overgrazing and meeting firewood needs.
Please pray for Lucy Ng'ang'a and the National Council of Churches of Kenya, and for the refugees who are struggling to survive in the difficult conditions.
Find more PWRDF stories here.
PWRDF is the Anglican Church of Canada's agency for international development, relief, refugees and justice issues.

The Anglican Communion: crisis and opportunity
ACC Website
March 26
The text of a speech by Bishop Musonda Trevor Selwyn Mwanba of Botswana, delivered at a recent meeting of the Ecclesiastical Law Society.
Far too many preachers and speakers find themselves in the position of having too much material and too little time in which to deliver it. One such preacher began his sermon with: “My dear friends, I feel somewhat like a mosquito in a nudist camp. There is so much to do and I don’t know where to begin.” I feel the same way. Perhaps a little story out of Africa would be the ideal way to begin.

Sunday of the Passion, with the Liturgy of the Palms - Luke 19:28-40, Lk 22:14-23:56
Today’s gospel stories are filled with high’s and low’s. Jesus, the perfect steward, gives us an example of what it means to really care for something or someone.
From Sunday by Sunday -- Reflections on Stewardship, based on the RCL gospels, Year C -- prepared by Archdeacon Michael Pollesel as Stewardship Education Coordinator. He is now General Secretary of the Anglican Church of Canada.

A funeral director asked a new, young minister to hold a graveside service in a remote, back-country cemetery for a homeless man, with no family or friends. The man would be the first to be laid to rest there.
The minister was unfamiliar with the area and became lost. He did not stop to ask directions but he finally arrived an hour late. He saw an idling backhoe and a crew eating lunch, but no hearse.
He apologized for his tardiness, stepped to the side of the open grave and saw the vault lid in place. The workers gathered around him, still eating their lunches, and the young minister poured out his heart and soul at the graveside.
As he preached, the workers said "Amen," "Praise the Lord," and "Glory!" He preached and preached as he never had before.
Finally he ended the lengthy service with a prayer and walked back to his car. As he opened the door and took off his coat, he overheard one worker say to the other: "I ain't never seen nothing like that before in all my years installing septic tanks."
